On an invitation from HE Ambassador W.S. Perera, President & CEO of NATTA participated in the 69th National Day Celebration of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka held on 6th February at Hotel Yak & Yeti, Durbar Marg.
Rt. Hon’ble Vice President of Nepal Mr. Nanda Kishore Pun ‘Pasang’ graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Hon’ble Speaker Ansari Gharti as Special Guest. In her welcome speech, Sri Lankan Ambassador Perera focussed on the age old friendship of Nepal & Sri Lanka and also envisaged the importance of the Sacred Garden of Lumbini in the minds of Sri Lankan Buddhists. Thousands of Buddhist visitors frequent the holy Birth place of Lord Buddha, the Apostle of Peace every year. Now since the accessibility is becoming easier and direct due to the operation of Himalaya Airlines, the pilgrimage tourism from Sri Lanka is sure to take a soaring trend, the ambassador affirmed.
NATTA President Mr. Madhusudan Acharya and CEO Prof. Hari Sarmah jointly offered a bouquet and congratulated HE Perera on behalf of Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents. Ambassador Perera was also aprised of NATTA’s planning to visit Sri Lanka in the near future with a mission to promote Nepal tourism. The grand National Day Celebration of Sri Lanka was attended by Ambassadors of various countries, high-level bureaucrats, journalists and distinguished local personalities.
