With a view to harnessing the vast potential of promoting tourism between Nepal and North India, NATTA organized a joint meeting with the President of North India Management Association (NIMA) Dr. Gulshan Sharma and his high-level delegation comprising of NIMA Secretary General J.N. Vohra, Prof. Narinder Kumar and Dr. Rajdeep Singh currently on move in Kathmandu at NATTA Secretariat on Thursday, the 04th Apr ’12. It was suggested that an interactive discussion program between the travel agents of Nepal and North India should be organized at Chandigarh (Punjab) and subsequently at Kathmandu to work out a long term plan to promote travel trade in both the friendly countries.NIMA President Dr. Sharma suggested a “Nepal Calling” tourism-cultural-art and craft and cuisine festival or “Nepal Festival” be organized at Chandigarh and later on at other tourist generating cities of Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar which could go a long way to project Nepal as a multi dimensional tourist destination. In the meeting, NIMA President made an offer of two scholarships to NATTA in Masters in Service Industry Management, a two year course starting from the upcoming academic session at ITFT College, Chandigarh.Earlier, welcoming the NIMA delegation at NATTA Secretariat, President Pavitra Kumar Karki appraised the delegates of NATTA activities and tourism status of Nepal. He then thanked NIMA team for the offer of scholarships to NATTA and assured that NATTA would always remain positive to any suggestions put up by well-wishers for the mutual benefit of tourism fraternity of both our friendly countries. NATTA VPs Madhu Sudan Acharya, Shambhu Raj Pathak, Secy Gen Achyut Guragain and CEO Prof Dr. Hari Sarmah also spoke on the occasion.
