Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya, President of NATTA, was invited by UFTAA President Mr. Sunil Kumar to join UFTAA Board Meeting which was held in New Delhi on 29-30 January, 2016. Addressing the meeting President Acharya apprised the dignitaries about Nepal’s current status of tourism and the promotional plans. He also expressed NATTA’s critical opinions regarding the inconsistency of functioning of APJC in Nepal . He suggested that such meetings of the regional NTA’s should be held every two months in rotation so that the stakeholders in neighborhood can have a fair knowledge of the happenings in each other’s country. This, he said, would also promote mutual understanding and co-operation in promoting regional tourism.
Also present in the meeting were executives from TAAI. The meeting primarily focused on the agenda of consolidating the regional participation in UFTAA besides the other agenda that included IATA issues and the efforts of Nepal in refurbishing her tourism in the aftermath of the Great Earthquake that hit Nepal early last year. TAAI has expressed its unanimity in supporting and promoting Nepal. UFTAA on the other hand has committed to host a full day seminar in Kathmandu on IATA Issues and the Challenges ahead. It is also in the process of forming a SAARC UFTTA Committee in the near future.
