Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) issued a Press Release concerning about Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal’s (CAAN) plan to distribute bonus using the fund collected from outgoing travelers by air. The decision has thrown cold water on the hope of the tourism stakeholders that CAAN would spend the money collected from air passengers to improve airport infrastructure and expand existing airports.
TIA had been collecting passenger service charge and airport development tax from travellers to develop its infrastructure.
The bonus announcement has come at a time when the efficiency of Nepal’s aviation infrastructure and manpower has been widely questioned at national and international levels due to lack of investment and training facilities.
