NATTA coordinated a joint meeting of NTB with all the international airlines operating to & fro Kathmandu on Friday, the 13th January, 2017 at Hotel Radisson. The meeting was well-attended by almost all the country managers of major airlines and a few high-level representatives from other airlines. A meeting of Sector Skill Committee for Hospitality formed under Nepal Vocational Qualifications System (NVQS) Project of Swisscontact was held at Hotel Royal Singhi on last 8th January in which NATTA Secretary Mr. Sudhir Kumar Upadhyay participated. NATTA has nominated Mr. Haribhakta Shrestha as an alternative member representing NATTA in SSC.
NATTA Participation in Travel Adventure Show 2017 (the USA) NATTA is coordinating the participation of Nepalese Tourism stakeholders in the upcoming Travel and Adventure Show 2017 in three of the cities of the USA: Los Angeles, Denver and Dallas. Executive Members of NATTA Mr. Furi Geljen Sherpa is Coordinator of NATTA Participation in the Travel & Adventure Show (the USA) and Mr. Varun Mehta as Co-coordinator for the event. The cost of booths in each of the above cities has been fixed at US$3400. Since the booth space will be of 10’x10’, the participants may share the booth on twin sharing basis by paying only US$1700. Interested company willing to take a single booth may pay the full amount stated above by submitting the required documents. And none of the cost is refundable in any case. Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) organized an orientation meeting of Nepal Vocational Qualifications System (NVQS) Project on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at HAN Secretariat. The orientation program was organized to make NVQS more familiarized and Sector Skill Committee to the all concerned. The meeting had the participants representing from REBAN, TURGAN, TAAN, NATTA, Chef Association Nepal, Hospitality Training Organization, Technical Experts Private sector. NATTA President Mr. Madhusudan Acharya called on Her Excellency Ambassador W.S. Perera last Monday, the 26th December and held talks on matters pertaining to mutual support, co-operation and exchange in the area of promoting tourism of both the friendly countries. Ambassador Perera assured NATTA Chief of her full co-operation in NATTA’s efforts to uphold the Nepal-Sri Lanka tourism. HE also expressed her desire to meet Nepalese tour operators during the convenient time and brief them of the potentialities of Sri Lanka tourism. Matters like establishing SAARC fare on airlines were also discussed elaborately. President Acharya informed HE that NATTA will be preparing for a promotional mission to Sri Lanka in the near future. On the occasion, President Acharya also presented a copy of NATTA Golden Jubilee Souvenir-2016. Director for the Convention and Golden Jubilee Celebrations Mr. Laxman Gautam submitted a Report Book of NATTA XXI Convention and Golden Jubilee at the 26th Board meeting held today. The report contains all the information regarding the preparation. President Mr. Madhusudan Acharya, Convener and 1st Vice President Mr. CN Pandey unveiling the comprehensive thanked all the Executive members, supporters, promoters, associates, members and Secretariat team for making the program a resounding success at the board meeting. NATTA has been close ties with various other travel agencies' associations spread all over the world by entering into MOU for mutual cooperation and support for the cause of promoting tourism in each other's countries. NATTA's latest MOU was with Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) signed at Dhaka, Bangladesh on 18th December 2016. NATTA and TOAB are hereafter committed to mutually cooperate and support each other in promoting and consolidating tourism for the greater welfare of the professionals and industry in particular.
Chandragiri Cable Car service was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Chandragiri, Kathmandu on 15th December 2016. Chandragiri Hills Ltd organized a special programme to mark the official launching ceremony of the cable car service. The function was participated by NATTA President Mr. Madhusudan Acharya, 1st VP Mr. CN Pandey, 2nd VP Mr. DK Sharma and Secretary General Mr. Bhim P. Panta. Chandragiri is seven kilometers from Thankot, which lies on the south-west of Kathmandu valley. The 2.5 kilometer journey passes through a spectacular forest and natural landscapes.

Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) organized Essay Competition as a part of its Golden Jubilee Celebration and 21st Convention. A notice was published inviting the college level students to participate in NATTA's Golden Jubilee Essay Contest on the topic " Nepal Tourism: Industry of National Priority". Essays were received by NATTA from students in both English and Nepali languages to Secretariat. A jury was set to examine the essays and top 3 were declared as winners. Ms. Manasi Kattel bagged the first prize, Ms. Anuska Srivastav second and Mr. Ankit KC as third prize winner. The winners received cash prize along with appreciation letter at the NATTA XXI Convention and Golden Jubilee Celebration held at Hotel Yak & Yeti on 9th December 2016.
It is a happy coincidence that UFTAA is also celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year by holding a grand Congress in Istanbul (Turkey) in conjunction with TURSAB, Turkish Airlines and the Government of Turkey from 25-27th November, 2016. NATTA President Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya was elected as one of the members in the Board of UFTAA Directors by the Golden Jubilee Congress of UFTAA held in Istanbul (Turkey) on 25th November 2016. This is for the third time that NATTA has had the honor of being in the UFTAA Board. The first Director was Mr. TC Pokharel, the second was Mr. Pavitra Kumar Karki. UFTAA is, in the near future, going to shift and set up its HQ in Doha.
UFTAA celebrated its Golden Jubilee Congress, 25-26 November 2016 at Hilton Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey. The event comprised of several features including IATA FORUM; Business Sessions on emerging trends as well as a B2B Exhibition that facilitated service providers to display their products and services and also featured sessions that helped to upgrade attendees with the evolving industry and with an opportunity to remain connected. The Congress was hosted by TURSAB, the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, and supported by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism in Turkey and Turkish Airlines. A twelve – member delegation led by President of NATTA Mr. Madhusudan Acharya actively participated in the UFTAA Congress. The delegation included NATTA former President Mr. Arjun Prasad Sharma, 1st VP Mr. CN Pandey, Treasurer Mr. Chitra B. Gurung and other NATTA members.
It was during the momentous time of UFTAA Golden Jubilee Congress in Istanbul that NATTA delegation could meet all the TURSAB officials and sign a Joint MOU for the betterment of the tourism of both the countries, Nepal and Turkey on 24th November, 2016. The MOU envisages strong partnership, co-operation and mutual support to promote tourism in both the countries.
The Award Nomination Committee formed to nominate deserving candidates for NATTA’s prestigious awards SAGARMATHA and BHASKAR AWARDS 2016. The deserving candidates will be presented with the Award during the inaugural ceremony of NATTA Golden Jubilee on 09th December in Kathmandu.
NATTA and HAN Executive Committee met for a joint meeting at NATTA Secretariat on Sunday, the 20th November.
