A five-member delegation from Meishan Dajiangdong Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd., Sichuan, China led by Director Ms. Yuan Yun called on NATTA Secretariat on 13th November and held talks with President Mr. MadhuSudan Acharya regarding the trend of the Chinese visitors visiting Nepal in the recent years. The Chinese delegates were welcomed at the NATTA Secretariat by President, Secretary General, Treasurer, Executive Member and CEO. They expressed their great satisfaction on having the opportunity to visit Nepal and said that their experience being in the country of Gods and peace was unprecedented. FNCCI arranged a meeting with the 6 member delegation led by Mr. Yang Hui, Deputy Director of Department of Commerce of Yunnan Province (Kunming) from Department of Commerce of Yunnan China Delegation on 4th November at FNCCI Secretariat. Tourist Bus Association Nepal (TBAN) organized an interaction program with all tourism associations in regard to the GON’s contradicting Tourism Act and Transportation Act. PRESIDENT ACHARYA JOINS GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF IMTA NATTA has been listed as a Founder Member of International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA) China for NATTA’s concerns shown towards poverty alleviation in the Trans- Himalayan Zones of the country through Tourism and also on recommendations of CNTA. The Establishment Ceremony of IMTA and its First General Assembly was held in Xing Yi City of Guizhou Province of PR China from 18th through 26th September, 2016. Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) organized a Heritage Walk Program in Kathmandu on 26th September 2016 to mark the 37th World Tourism Day. The walk started from Sanchaykosh Building, Thamel and passed through Narsingchowk, Thahiti, Bhedasing, Indrachok and finally gathered at Basantapur Durbar Square at 8 am. in the morning. The walk was participated in mostly by elderly people and differently abled people besides tourism stakeholders. The theme of the program was ‘Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility’. NATTA Executive Committee was represented by Secy. Gen. Mr. Bhim Prasad Panta.

PARTICIPATE IN THE JOINT CYCLE RALLY TO MARK WORLD TOURISM DAY CELEBRATION 2016 NATTA in conjunction with Qatar Airways is organizing a Cycle Rally as its first edition of Let us keep our City Clean Awareness Campaign. The Cycle Rally will take place on Saturday, the 24th September, ’16 from 8.30 am – 10.30 am. Tea & cookies will be served before the commencement of the Rally. The rally will kick off from NATTA Secretariat, Goma Ganesh, Naxal and will pass through Durbar Marg, Singha Durbar, Thapathali, Pulchowk and then Patan Durbar Square. For 10-15 minutes, participants will clean the area in Patan Durbar Square. A meeting of the representatives from Qatar Airways and NATTA Executives was held on last Monday, the 12th September to discuss on the potentialities of observing World Tourism Day-2016 together with programs like Blood Donation and Cycle Rally in Kathmandu & Lalitpur to raise mass awareness with an objective of sending out the message Keep your City Clean. The meeting concluded with the resolution that NATTA & Qatar Airways will jointly promote this year’s World Tourism Day.
NATTA has already sent out a circular appended with the government proposed Travel & Trekking Regulation 2062 amendment for comments and suggestions from NATTA Members. The suggestions received from the stakeholders are likely to get articulated in the amended regulation. With an objective of celebrating 37th World Tourism Day (WTD) -2016, with the slogan Tourism For All- Promoting Universal Accessibility, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Minister, Mr. Jivan Bahadur Shahi. The committee meeting had its first meeting held on 9th September 2016 at NTB Hall and had the discussions on how the WTD should be celebrated this year and also had reflections on programs to be implemented by private sector tourism related associations. Secretary Mr. Sudhir Kumar Upadhyay and Executive Member Mr. Binay Basnet represented NATTA in it first committee meeting. Committee is comprised of all the tourism associated organizations, government agencies and local bodies. Ever since its inception, World Tourism Day is celebrated on 27 September to foster awareness among the international community about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value.
Ms. Ipsita Satpathy, a research associate working at The Energy & Resources Institute (the Centre for Resource Security and Development Policy/Green Growth and Resource Efficiency) from New Delhi called on NATTA Head Office on 07th September to meet the NATTA Officials and discuss and collect authentic information about Sustainable Tourism In Himalayan Cities, viz., Kathmandu (Nepal), Darjeeling (India) and Thimpu (Bhutan). The main objective of her study was to understand the linkages between tourism and urban services in the given tourist centric cities in the Himalayan region. NMA's 26th Annual General Meeting was held on 7th September 2016 at Hotel Yak & Yeti. NMA’s AGM was honored by Hon'ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Jeevan Bahadur Shahi. High level government officials, NMA advisors, representatives from tourism related organization, tourism entrepreneurs along with general members were present during the program.
