The second meeting of the Media & Publicity Committee was held on Thursday, the 14th July, 2016 at NATTA Secretariat under the Chairmanship of Mr. Bhim Prasad Panta. The agenda of the meeting adhered to the discussion on NATTA’s upcoming mega events and the the theme of the event. Since NATTA is going to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of its establishment this year on 09th December, 2016, NATTA’s focus has been drawn towards how to make this event a memorable one. The fifteenth APJC (Agency Program Joint Council) Meeting was held in Kathmandu on July 13, 2016 at Hotel Radisson. The meeting was participated in by all the NATTA APJC members and the member Airlines’ operating in Nepal. Mr. CA Janak Raj Kalakheti presided over and the agendas were discussed one by one. The outcome of the meeting is yet to be received from IATA Office. Mr. Amitabh Khosla, Director India & Mr. Vinod Kumar Malhotra, Branch Manager, Northern India & Nepal initiated the discussion. Muktinath Yatra Pvt. Ltd. was welcomed as a new member of NATTA at 14th Board Meeting held today, 8th July 2016. Mr. Rabi Bhattarai, MD of the travel was handed over new NATTA Membership Certificate & Khada by President Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya. Mr. Bhattarai in his short remark urged NATTA to work on quality tourism and bring the training programs in the coming days.
A meeting of the NATTA Golden Jubilee Celebrations & NATTA 21st Convention was held at NATTA Secretariat on Thursday, the 07th July, 2016 under the chairmanship of 1st VP & Convener Mr. CN. Pandey. The meeting scrutinized the check-list for the above two mega events of the association and has prepared a proposal for approval of the Board. The proposal which includes the proposed date, venue, theme and the day-long activities will be put up in the 14th NATTA Executive Board meeting on Friday as an important agenda for discussion. The meeting was participated in by 2nd VP Mr. D.K. Sharma, Secretary General Mr. Bhim Prasad Panta, Executive Member Mr. Binay Basnet and CEO Prof. Hari Sarmah. This first meeting of the committee is expected to be the tip of the iceberg.
With declaration of 6 points grievances of Tour Guides, Conference of National Tourist Guide concluded on 5th July 2016. The conference was organized by TURGAN. Insurance of guide, separate education faculty system for guide, proper remuneration for guides, facility of tips, free access to guides in heritage and archaeological sites etc were the demands and the points mentioned in the declaration. The Conference was graced by Hon’ble Minister for MOCTCA Mr. Ananda Prasad Pokhrel and leader of variousassociations. CDTV-1 of Chengdu (China) reporters Ms. Xin Yu Yan, one of the top Chinese Tourism Writer and Mr. Yang who are the representative for three popular TV channels(CDTV-1, Xinhua News Agency and The Western Satelite TV) called on NATTA Secretariat on 5th July, 2016 and interviewed President Madhu Sudan Acharya for a telecast program to be aired from Chengdu Television Station within a day or two. The main purpose of the interview was to familiarize Nepal to the denizens of the commercially booming city of Chengdu and other parts of China. President Acharya narrated on the pioneering role of NATTA in the tourism sector and elaborated about the touristic attractions of this tiny Himalayan country emphasizing the age long friendly relations sustaining between Nepal and China. NATTA President Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya, 1st VP Mr. CN Pandey and CEO Prof. Hari Sarmah visited the Office of Nepal Investment Board and felicitated the newly appointed CEO Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikary with a bouquet and letter of congratulation. During the short discourse, President Acharya expressed NATTA’s expectation that Nepal Investment Board will surely underline the importance of investment in building enough of infrastructure in the tourism sector for the greater benefit of nation’s economy.
NATTA is pleased to call for Chinese Tourist Guide Training which is going to be held in conjunction with NATHM in the mid of July 2016. The training venue will be NATHM itself but the applicants are requested to collect the application form from NATTA on Thursday, 7th July 2016 corresponding to 23rd Ashad 2073. The fee for the Application Form is Rs.1,000/- and Training Fee Rs.20,000/- is to be submitted by the candidates who are selected for the training. Applicant must be graduate and have a fair knowledge of basic Chinese preferably they shoud have completed one year course in Chinese Language. Candidates will be selected on the basis of interview. NATTA officials including President Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya participated in an interactive discussion meeting convened by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Thursday, June 30th 2016 at Hotel Yak & Yeti, Durbar Marg which was graced by NRB Governor Mr. Chiranjibi Nepal. The meeting was held to collect suggestions from various stakeholders from the service sector in the course of the formation of new Monetary Policy of the Central Bank. Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China have signed a 16-point memorandum of understanding along with a commitment of collaboration for bilateral tourism. The agreement was reached at the end of the 9th meeting of the Joint Tourism Coordination Committee between Tibet and Nepal that concluded here on June 28. In the four-day meeting, both sides reviewed the progress achieved on the understandings made in previous meetings, and emphasized for further cooperation in implementing them while resolving the issues, if any, through mutual cooperation. The two sides also underscored the need of further promoting tourism cooperation by seizing opportunities available in both sides. As part of the understanding, both sides have agreed to expedite the construction of Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border point and to open it up for tourist mobility gradually after the conditions meet required standard. The first meeting of the Council of NATTA Past Presidents (CNPP) was held at NATTA Secretariat on 19th June 2016. Convener for the Council, Mr. R.R Pandey chaired the first council meeting. The main agenda of the meeting were celebrating the Golden Jubilee of NATTA and NATTA’s 21st Convention. Various themes for the occasion were discussed in the meeting which finally concluded with the notion that in the current context of Nepalese Tourism, we should focus on Nepal Tourism – An industry of National Priority. The first meeting of the Council of NATTA Past Presidents unanimously nominated Mr. Joy Dewan as Co-Convener was nominated unanimously from the meeting.

Mr. Furi Gelzen Sherpa, Managing Director of Himalayan Panorama Travels & Tours Pvt. Ltd. has been unanimously nominated as a co-opted new member in the NATTA Executive Committee. This nomination came into effect by the decision of 12th NATTA Board Meeting held at NATTA Secretariat on 12th June 2016. As per the Amended NATTA Statute, Chapter 4 Article 15 Sub Article 1, President proposed this nomination which was later endorsed by the Board. Mr. Furi deserves this nomination as he is a young and avid travel entrepreneur with a long history of experience in travel trade.
Secretary Mr. Sudhir Kumar Upadhyay had been participating in the preparatory meetings on the Ninth Meeting of Nepal Tibet Joint Tourism Coordination Committee called by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation (MOCTCA). The 9th meeting of NTJTCC between Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of People’s Republic of China and Government of Nepal is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from June 25-29 2016. Various agendas have been proposed. NATTA will be providing transportation for the sightseeing of the foreign delegates participating in the meeting. Nepal celebrated the 2nd International Yoga Day organizing various programs in different parts of the country on June 21, 2016. The Nepal Yoga Association in collaboration with NTB took out a tourism rally starting form NTB premises to its Yoga Pranayam Programme at Hotel Woodland, Durbarmarg. The rally was also joined by foreign tourists in the town. The program aimed at promoting yoga and spiritual tourism. President of NATTA Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya and few of Executive members and NATTA members joined in the yoga camps organized by different organizations. The Government organized a Yoga program at Durbar Marg to celebrate the Yoga Day. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and high ranking officials attended the program to mark the day. It saw the remarkable presence of the follower of Yoga in Kathmandu. Two years ago, the United had decreed the celebration of World Yoga Day on June 21 every year.
South Korea, with approximately 25000 visitors per year to Nepal, remains a source market of utmost significance to Nepal. Therefore, in conjunction with the 2016 edition of KOFTA travel fair (June 9 to 12), Nepal Tourism Board, in cooperation with Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Western Regional Chapter Pokhara, organized a promotional program in Seoul on June 13th, which was participated in by local media personnel and travel trade – altogether 80. The program was organized with a view to enhance Nepal’s destination image amongst the South Korean Travelling population, and also to enhance business networking. Secretary General Mr. Bhim Prasad Panta attended the meeting organized by FNCCI in coordination with UN Habitat and Ministry of Urban Development (MOUD) at FNCCI on 14th June 2016. As Nepal will be participating in 3rd World Urban Conference (Habitat III) organized by United Nations Human Settlement Program (UN Habitat) in Ecuador in October 2016. A Pre Draft Report has been prepared by a committee formed by MOUD. The meeting was called to discuss and provide guidelines by Consultative Forum of Private Sector on certain thematic areas which will be presented in the conference. Some of the areas were Enhancing urban and peri- urban food production, integration of urban economy into national development policy.
