NATTA held a meeting with the Presidents and representatives of various Tourist Vehicles associations on 02nd April at NATTA Secretariat. The main agenda of the meeting was to review the existing rates of tourist vehicles used by the tour operators for transportation including site-seeing. The review was deemed necessary in the wake of the deflating cost of petroleum products. After a long and vigorous discussion on the issue it has been finally agreed to form a committee to go minutely into the pros and cons of the issue and suggest NATTA a scientific rate. NATHM (Nepal Academy of Tourism & Hotel Management celebrated its 42nd Anniversary on 27th March 2015, at its premises located at Rabi Bhawan, Kathmandu. On the occasion, it was declared that NATHM would soon be starting its newly built hotel with all services required. The hotel will also serve as a platform for NATHM students to complete their internship. NATTA President Mr. D.B Limbu is one of the Board members of NATHM. President Limbu also attended the program organized by NATHM MHM 3rd Batch Students on the Theme of Opportunities and Challenges in Hospitality Education on 29th March 2015 in NATHM.
On invitation of Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, NATTA participated in a Brain Storming Session dedicated to Operationalisation of the Tourism Strategy & Action Plan with special emphasis on the 5-year Detailed Action Plan on 26th March, 2015 at Hotel Yak & Yeti. Tourism Secretary Mr. Suresh Man Shrestha chaired the program graced by Chief Guest Hon'ble Dr. Chandra Mani Adhikari, Member, National Planning Commission. President of NATTA Mr. D.B. Limbu and CEO Prof. Dr. Hari Sarmah participated in the program aimed to identify the interventions and activities – roles and responsibilities on priority basis. NATTA was placed in the Group to focus on the Tourism Infrastructure part along with TAAN & NARA and representative from MOCTCA. The half-day long program was summed up by Jt. Secretary, MOCTCA Mr. Mohan Krishna Sapkota thanking the Chief Guest Hon'ble Dr. Adhikari, SAMARTH- NMDP and all the delegates from the private sector and the ministry.
A meeting in regard to deportee cases was held at NATTA Secretariat on 25th March 2015. The meeting was held in the presence of heads of LCC, Mr. Namit Mediratta, Country Manager of Air Arabia, Ms. Sangita Rauniyar, National Sales Manager of Air Arabia, Mr. Navaraj Shahi, General Manager of Fly Dubai and Mr. Sachin Pradhan, Head Sales, Marketing and Distribution of Air Asia. The LCC heads expressed their unanimous view that they have understood NATTA’s problem centering the inadmissible passengers and have requested NATTA to come up with a proposal to t he effect of the problem of inadmissible passengers. The 11th Annual Washington D.C. Travel & Adventure Show took place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on March 7 till March 8. Participation from Nepal as exhibitors in the Fair showed prominence attracting numerous visitors. It has been hoped that this participation will go a long way to make tourism heritage of Nepal known to the cross Atlantic Tourism market. NATTA Jt. Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents, Eastern Regional Association completed its 4th AGM on 28th February’15 at Janakpur at Hotel Sitasaran. The Chief Guest, Chief District Officer of Dhanusha District, Mr.Krishna Prasad Dhungana inaugurated the NATTA AGM. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has formed a 10-member team under the leadership of Joint Secretary Umakanta Parajuli to represent Nepal in the Joint Working Group (JWG) on tourism between Nepal and India. The 20th AGM of NATTA Western Regional Association was held on 30th January 2015 at Hotel Barahi, Pokhara, Lakeside. The program kicked off with the grand inaugural ceremony. The program was organized by Nepal India Chamber of Commerce & Industry in association with theEmbassy of India. Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) participated in the International Travel Trade Fair, FITUR 2015, in coordination with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has concluded successfully. A total of sixteen travel related companies from Nepalese Travel Industry exhibited their products at the Fair. Mr. Narayan Prasad Gurung Koney, Treasurer and Coordinator for Nepal’s Participation in FITUR and Mr. Ramesh Thapa,Secretary as well as the sub coordinator from NATTA participated to facilitate the participating exhibitors. ‘FITUR which was held in Madrid, Spain had begun on 28th January and ended on 1st February 2015. Participation of Nepal in FITUR is coordinated by NATTA over the years.’
A Briefing Program on TTF- Mumbai 2015 was held on 27th January 2015 at NATTA Secretariat with the participation of the companies registered asexhibitors in the event. Senior Marketing Director of NTB, Ms. Ujjwala Dali briefed on the aspects of the Fair and on the promotional materials to be displayed. With the presentation of the graphics design of the Nepal Pavilion, layouts werediscussed with theparticipants. Like in FITUR 2015, Nepal Tourism Board will be contributing 25% on the cost of stall design at TTF which in return will make Nepal Pavilion more attractive & prominent. Also, Nepal destinationadvertisement will be placed on the walkways to the exhibition hall to attract more attention on Nepal. NATTA held talks with Director General Mr. Chudamani Sharma and Director of the Department Mr. Gopal Ghimire in regard to VAT issues on transport on 7th Jan 2015 at IRD Office, Lazimpat. It has been agreed that NATTA and NATO will cooperate IRD in making the VAT more effective in the days to come. The major issue discussed was waiving ofoutstanding VAT amount for the F/Y 2069-70 that have not been billed. The meeting also agreed to organize anOrientation Program on VAT latest by 3rd Feb as a joint venture of NATTA, NATO and IRD. The Eighth Meeting of the Nepal-Tibet (China) JointCommittee for Tourism Promotion was held in Lhasa from 23-27th December, 2014. Mr. Binay Basnet, Executive Member of NATTA was nominated to participate in the above meeting.
