Nepal hosted the first Asian Resilience Summit with leading figures in global travel and tourism converging on Kathmandu started from May 30-31 2019.
Asian Resilience summit was an opportunity to share the strategies that has enabled the country to recover despite the different economic, political, natural and anthropogenic changes in the last few years. The event was seen as a platform to foster opportunities for partnerships in sustainable business practices.
Speakers from all over the world shared the best practices in the field of Resilience and Tourism which can be adapted in other parts of the world. Mr. Taleb Rifai, former Secretary General of UNWTO, Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism of Jamaica, Jing Xu, Director of UNWTO and Mario Hardy, CEO of PATA spoke during the one-day event.
Following the 1st Asian Resilience Summit, the board also hosted the prestigious International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) Award 2019, one of the most prestigious awards in the tourism and hospitality sector.
The event was jointly organised by the Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Council, the World Tourism Organisation of the United Nations (UNWTO) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and Nepal Tourism Board.
