Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents with the Nepal Tourism Board successfully organized Nepal Tourism Promotion and B2B meeting in three cities of Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Lucknow from 23 to 28 January 2023 in a bid to update the key Indian Outbound Tour Operators in border cities and promote Nepal’s tourism products.
The events focused on cross-border tourism promotion from Uttar Pradesh as it is the most populous state in India and in close proximity to Nepal. The first destination of the Sales Mission was reached via Buddha Air to Varanasi. Cross Border Sales Mission programs in the cities of Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Lucknow on January 24, 25, and 27, 2023, respectively were organized.
The sales mission programs aimed at cashing in the tourism potentiality from the most populous state of India, Uttar Pradesh; having proximity to Nepal. The programs in each city primarily focused on showcasing Nepal’s tourism attractions along with direct Business to Business networking with Indian travel trade counterparts. Hundreds of participants participated in each city and had good interactions with agents.
All the events in these cities received active and overwhelming participation from Indian trade and media coordinated by NATTA Executive Member Mr. Bishnu Pandey.
India is an important tourism source market for Nepal. Many visits from the states of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar and Uttarakhand which lie close to Nepal's border represent a tremendous potential source market at our doorstep. Nepal has not been able to attract India’s burgeoning middle class in greater numbers. New possibilities have to be explored to rebrand the image of Nepal in the Indian markets. Sales mission programs have been undertaken in various tourism potential destinations with tourism professionals and are hopeful that this will help bring Nepal’s tourism back.
