The case on refund case of Jet Airways has been a great matter of concern in the ticketing agents in the tourism sector. NATTA had formed a Settlement Committee in the coordination of Secretary General Mr. Ramesh Thapa with Sub coordinator Mr. Ramesh Paudel, Members Mr. Raju Dhakal, Ms. Mihika Dhakwa, Mr. Chitra Bahadur Gurung, Mr. Shyam Thapaliya and Mr. Rishi Dhamala to work on the issue.
APJC Coordinator and Secretary General Mr. Thapa had communicated several times with IATA regarding the refunds and the settlement committee compel of taking legal action if not solved within certain days. In having frequent communication and coordination with IATA, IATA hadn’t been able to recover the funds.
On 3rd December 2019, Refund Settlement Committee Members and a Legal Advisor had a meeting to have the discussion on this issue at NATTA Secretariat.
On 4th December 2019 NATTA with the committee members; Ms. Mihika Dhakwa, Mr. Chitra Bahadur Gurung, Mr. Shyam Thapaliya and Mr. Bharat Jung Pandey visited Secretary of MoCTCA to submit a letter explaining the grievances regarding Jet Airways Settlement and to take any action by MoCTCA as soon as possible as per the norms of MoCTCA. The Delegation was led by Secretary General Mr. Thapa.
The submitted letter has been cc to BARN, CAAN, Department of Tourism and IATA Nepal.
The suspension of Jet Airways has created a massive issue among the ticketing agents. NATTA had collected the details of members for those who had not received their Refund after they processed for their refund to Jet Airways. The received details and loss to their agency is high.
Certain policies should be developed by the Government in the aviation sector to be prevented from any other such kind of future matters from which service providers don’t have to face the difficulties.
