China National Tourist Office (CNTO), Kathmandu and Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NCCCI) jointly organized an Interaction Program on Silk Road Tourism Between China & Nepal at Hotel Annapurna on Wednesday, the 19th April’17. The program was inaugurated jointly by Chief Guest Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation and HE Ambassador Peoples’ Republic of China to Nepal Madam Yu Hong. President of NCCCI Mr. Rajesh Kazi Shrestha welcoming the guests in the program believed that the very concept of Silk Road Economic Belt, One Belt one Road (OBOR) propounded by President Xi Jinping and granting Nepal Approved Destination Status (ADS) for Chinese Outbound Visitors have paved the way for Nepalese Inbound tourism to prosper in the days to come. He said by the end of 2018 more than 0.2 million Chinese visitors will have visited Nepal. Ms. Yang Tsom, Director, CNTO, Kathmandu said that CNTO in Kathmandu has been actively involved in tourism exchanges between China & Nepal. She also presented a CD on China showing the natural beauty, physical development and history and Culture of PR China. Ambassador Madam Yu Hong also expressed her optimism about the future of Nepal tourism and assured that she would be more than happy to see visitors from China in Nepal and vice-versa. Chief Guest Hon’ble Minister also supported OBOR and firmly expressed GON’s commitment of One China one policy. On behalf of Nepal Tourism Board Acting Director Mr. Sunil Sharma presented a narrative video on Nepal.
NATTA was represented in the program by Secretary General Mr. Bhim Prasad Panta, Executive Members Ms. Shital Kumari Sharma Poudel, Mr. Varun Mehta and CEO Prof. Dr. Hari Sarmah. NATTA team interacted with all the dignitaries on NATTA’s efforts to promote Nepal’s tourism in the neighboring countries with special focus on China. They also informed the Chinese counterparts about NATTA’s upcoming event of Nepal China Sales Mission going to be launched in June this year.
