A collaborative consultation workshop was conducted by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Sustainable Tourism for Livelihood Recovery Project (STLRP), and UNDP Nepal. Officials from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Ministry of Finance, NTB Executive Members, and representatives from prominent tourism associations gathered to deliberate on a forthcoming tourism project. UNDP Nepal expressed strong interest in sustaining its involvement in the development and growth of Nepal's tourism sector. Kathmandu, Nepal, 14th January 2024 - The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) organized a workshop and awareness session titled "Cyber Security Significance in the Travel Industry" at the Auditorium Hall of Nepal Tourism Board, Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu on 29th of Poush 2080 / 14th of January 2024. The event was aimed at addressing the current issues of various cyber-related challenges faced by the travel trade sector of Nepal. The session was graced by the presence of Superintendent of Police Mr. Pashupati Kumar Ray from the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau, along with representatives from Global Distribution System (GDS) service providers Sabre Nepal, Amadeus Nepal, and Travelport Galileo Nepal. On 7th January 2023, Mr Ramesh Thapa President of the National Association of Travel and Tour Agents (NATTA) visited Singh Durbar, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation. During his visit, he welcomed and congratulated Dr. Deepak Kafle, recently appointed Secretary of the Ministry. NATTA Gandaki Province have organized Customer Service Training in Teeka Resort in Pokhara from 19th December till 23rd of December. It was instructed by Mr. Pankaj Pradhananga, an experienced Lecturer and Tourism Entrepreneur. Its objective was to equip participants with the necessary skills to excel in customer-facing roles, emphasizing effective responses to challenges and the demonstration of assertive yet polite communication. The significance of building rapport with customers through best-practice methods was underscored, ensuring seamless communication and an overall enhancement of customer satisfaction. In a touristic hub like Pokhara, customer care training becomes exceptionally vital. NATTA Lumbini province have successfully organized Air Ticket Training in Butwal from 18th December till 22nd December. The training was conducted by Mr. John Davis, an expert on Air Ticketing- AMADEUS. Its objective was to equip participants with the necessary skills to excel in airline ticketing. The five-day training, held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm benefited 30 aspiring tourism enthusiasts and seasoned ticketing agents alike, constituting a comprehensive 20-hour course. Overall this training program seems well-organized and targeted toward enhancing the skills of participants in the field of airline ticketing using the AMADEUS system. From crafting compelling content to leveraging digital marketing tools, the sessions were designed to enhance the digital capabilities of travel agencies for sustainable growth. The Five-day Customer Service Training in collaboration with Sustainable Tourism for Livelihood Recovery Project, a joint venture of Nepal Tourism Board and UNDP Nepal at Hotel Shrestha Residency in Simara from December 5th to 9th 2023. It aims to boost customer care skills in the travel tour sector. During the program, participants actively participate in discussions and hands-on exercises creating a supportive community of learners. With the skills acquired during the training we anticipate a noteworthy improvement in customer service standards within the industry.
Presently in progress is a noteworthy Digital Capacity Building training in Gandaki Province, spanning from December 7th to 11th, 2023. This initiative, a joint effort by NATTA in partnership with UNDP and NTB, is geared towards equipping over 35 travel agents with crucial digital skills. Under the guidance of instructor Amod Niroula, the training seeks to enhance participants' proficiency in utilizing digital tools effectively within the travel industry. The curriculum covers diverse areas such as online marketing, social media strategies, and digital customer engagement. The collaboration between these three esteemed organizations underscores a shared commitment to advancing the digital capabilities of travel agents in Gandaki Province.
Customer care service is currently in the spotlight in Sudurpashchim Province with an ongoing training session at Hotel Soral Pvt. Ltd. from the 8th to the 12th of December, 2023. This training is a joint effort by NATTA in partnership with UNDP and NTB which aims to enhance the customer care skills of professionals in the region. The program focuses on various aspects of customer service including effective communication, problem-solving and building positive relationships. With this collaborative initiative Sudurpashchim Province seeks to elevate the standard of customer care ensuring a positive and satisfactory experience for all.
In a request for support in the upcoming Buddhist International Travel Mart (BITM) 2023, a joint meeting with international airlines and GDS operating in Nepal was held at Hotel Yak & Yeti on 27th February 2023 convened by NATTA. The meeting firstly apprised of the information about BITM with a Presentation and requested for suggestions and advice to make the event a grand success for the benefit of tourism in Nepal. Also, requested to suggest Bloggers, Media, and Buyers in the program and share the event among their associates. All the representatives in the meeting praised NATTA for the initiation of organizing the Buddhist International Mart with their valued suggestions to work and jointly agreed to collaborate in making the event a grand success.
A Debriefing meeting of the delegates who participated in the FITUR Exhibition 2023 was held at Hotel Kailashkutee, Thamel, Kathmandu in the afternoon, 20th February 2023 with the participants of FITUR 2023, NATTA Board and NTB. The participants shared their experiences and also provided suggestions such as increasing the space from the current year, having a Cultural Program or any attractions to attract the number of visitors to the Nepal Pavilion in the future. The suggestions and comments shared by the participants have been noted positively to implement for the greater success of the next participation. With more than 30 Nepalese tourism stakeholders NATTA organized the participation in the Fair from 19th – 22nd January 2023. At the conclusion of the FITUR Debriefing, NATTA thanked NTB, the Embassy of Nepal in Madrid, and everyone in the delegation for their effort to make this participation a very fruitful one.
