NATTA welcomed Khangri Trek (P) Ltd. as a new member on its 8th Board Meeting held on 17th April 2016. President Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya along with Immediate Past President Mr. D.B Limbu welcomed the new member offering NATTA Membership Certificate, Khada and NATTA lapel pin. All Board Members were introduced to Managing Director of Khangri Trek, Mr. Prabin K.C. A meeting of NATTA officials and some major tour operators held recently in the NATTA Secretariat has finally resolved to form a strong Alliance to monitor the credit flow in the market in view of the huge amount of credits not realized in time. At this stage NATTA 2nd VP Mr. D.K. Sharma will act as a co-coordinator and soon the complete list of members in the Alliance will get the shape.

Mr. Tomohiro Koyama, a researcher and Economic Adviser at Embassy of Japan in Nepal called on NATTA Secretariat, Gairidhara on Wednesday, the 06th April ’16 just to bid adieu to NATTA Executive Committee. He is leaving Kathmandu after completing three years of his tenure in the Embassy of Japan in Nepal. He thanked NATTA for all its support and cooperation extended to him in the course of his stay in Kathmandu. A joint meeting of NATTA Executive Board and the Past Presidents of NATTA was held on Friday, the 8th April 2016 at Hotel Annapurna. The major agenda of the meeting was the formation of the Council of Past Presidents of NATTA. The meeting had the participation of almost all the Past Presidents including the Founder President Mr. P.R Joshi. President Mr. Madhusudan Acharya welcomed the Past Presidents and briefed on the relevance of the formation of the Council. A Press Meet was held at NATTA Secretariat on 8th April 2016, Friday to brief the update on Nepal Destination Presentation and Sales Mission. President Mr. Madhusudan Acharya and 1st Vice President Mr. C.N Pandey briefed on the Presentation Program and China Sales Mission –2016. The Program is starting from 11th-18th April 2016 in four cities: Beijing,Hangzhou, Chengdu and Shanghai. The team will promote Nepal by organizing B2B, Press-Meet and power presentation on Nepal, This mission is being organized by NATTA in conjunction with Embassy of Nepal, Beijing and Nepal Tourism Board. Secretary General Mr. Bhim Prasad Panta and Executive Member Mr. Ram Barakoti called on the DG of Tourism Department on 6th April 2016. The agenda of the meeting was to apprise the DG about the hassle being faced by our transporters with their vehicles having green-plated number plates. The traffic police doesn't allow Nepalese tourists to use the tourist vehicles (green-plated) and are unnecessarily fined. NATTA delegates have strongly urged the DG to expedite the solution by calling an urgent meeting where the DG of traffic should also be invited.
Briefing on China Sales Mission 2016 was organized at NATTA Secretariat on 6th April 2016, Wednesday with all the registered participants. Coordinator for Nepal to China Sales Mission 2016, NATTA Executive Ms. Shital Kumari Sharma Poudel briefed on the details and aspects to the participants of Sales Mission. On the briefing session, Mr. Sunil Sharma, Officiating Director, PR & Publicity also informed that NTB is moving towards digitization of promotion of Nepal. Also, in the briefing session, it was agreed that details about this mission is to be informed and disseminate to all the Media. A Code of Conduct was signed by all the participants which included all the rules and regulations to be followed by participants.
The International Buddhist Summit is going to be held in Lumbini on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Jayanti. The Summit is being organized by the Government of Nepal. Various international dignitaries, monks and devotees are expected to muster strong at the sacred garden of Lumbini to participate in the summit. A special organizing committee has been formed by GON in which NATTA has also been included. NATTA is committed to accomplish the assigned responsibilities and help the summit earn a resounding success. NATTA deems such summits do go a long way in promoting and revivifying Nepalese Tourism. President Acharya in his discourse with the tourism honcho at the department explained how a few of the agents were forced to stop their business as the Department of Tourism (DOT) invalidated their licenses to operate business simply because they couldn’t renew their licenses within the stipulated time owing to various reasons. One of the major reasons has been found to be the non-submission of periodical statement to DOT. NATTA had organized a honor and interaction program with newly executive committee of NATOJ (National Tourism Journalist Association) on Thursday, 24th March at NATTA Secretariat. President Madhusudan Acharya felicitated the President of NATOJ, Shiva Adhikari and the members of the NATOJ executive body. SOTTO Nepal organized a FAM Trip in coordination with NTB from 18th March to 23rd March 2016. The FAM group visited including Lumbini, Palpa, ReshRunga, SupaDeurali and Swargadwari for the promotion of internal tourism. Certain spots have been identified as spots of touristic attraction and they will be included in the tour packages offered by tour operators in the days to come. Speaking during a formal program at Swargadwari, NATTA 1st V.P CN Pandey said that the development of tourism mainly depends on the number of days spent by tourists at the destination and how comfortable are the infrastructure required for the mobility of the tourists in the areas they visit.
