A joint meeting of NATTA Central and Palpa Chapter of NATTA on last Friday,11th March 2016 to focus on the promotion of tourism in the Palpa Region especially in view of the introduction of Paragliding in Palpa. Also, the meeting addressed on the issue, for the smooth immigration of Indian travelers willing to visit Nepal. 1st Vice President of NATTA Central Mr. C.N Pandey attended the meeting. The meeting was well attended by the executive committee and advisors of NATTA Palpa Chapter.
NATTA Western Regional Association, Pokhara hosted a week long FAM Trip to the Western part of the country. The trip had started from Pokhara and it passed through Nepalgunj—Bardia– Mahendranagar-Nainital-Nepalgunj and then back to Pokhara. The FAM Trip was organized to support and promote development of domestic tourism. The mission was very important as the Pokhara tourism stakeholders met and interacted on various tourism issues with the local entrepreneurs and NATTA Far Western Regional Association. The trip was flagged on by Mr. Dolraj Dhakal, Chief of Pokhara Tourism Office.
NATTA received an invitation to the opening ceremony of Inspire Nepal 2016, Business Forum and Expo at Hotel Yak & Yeti on 10th March 2016. The ceremony was inaugurated by Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Bijay Kumar Gachhadar. The program was addressed by Deputy Ambassador of U.S Embassy Nepal John Carwile, Former U.S Ambassador of Nepal Mr. Scott H. Delisi and other felicitators. “Inspire Nepal” is a platform for stake-holders and professionals of the private and public sectors to generate business, develop relationships, forge partnerships, gather knowledge and acquire expertise through creative interactions. It is a business exhibition to attend which offers opportunity, advice and information crucial for ongoing business entity through various conferences and entertaining networking activities. Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mr. Ananda Prasad Pokhrel graced his presence at NATTA Secretariat on 9th March 2016, Wednesday. President Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya along with NATTA Executives welcomed Hon’ble Minister and expressed gratitude for his kind presence. Several issues faced by IATA Accredited members were raised in the meeting. After several discussions, meeting with concluded with the following some of the solutions: To ease the IATA Payment, NATTA will request concerned banks to open for 1 extra hour on the IATA payment day. In addition, NATTA will request for the payment of IATA to be made online in coordination with IATA and concerned banks in further coming days. Also, meeting with BARN to be arranged soon regarding settling of IATA Weekly Remittances.

In regard to the free visa and ticket provision given to outbound workers that came to effect from July 2015, local ticketing agencies have been exhibiting their resentment over it as they are likely to loose their ticketing business. Hence, a joint meeting with ticketing agents was held at NATTA Secretariat in the presence of NATTA Executives Mr. Chitra Bahadur Gurung, Treasurer, Mrs. Sabita Bhattarai K.C, Jt. Treasurer and Mr. Binay Basnet, Executive Member on 1st March 2016, Tuesday to brainstorm on the issue and find amicable solutions. After the discussions, the meeting then concluded with the agreement that, credits be given by agents to agents in Nepal. A mechanism has to be created for Credit Control through system.
5th AGM of NATTA Eastern Regional Association and the Election of new executive committee was held successfully at Hotel Eastern Star, Biratnagar on 25th February 2016. In the inaugural ceremony, President of NATTA Eastern Regional Association Mr. Hem Raj Bastola welcomed all the guests present at the meeting and also presented his annual report. After the series of meetings, NATTA family participated at the BTM Travel Trade Fair, Mainak Tourist Lodge Complex, Silliguri. The first Bengal Travel Mart 2016 inauguration was on 26th February 2016. The three-day event (26th– 28th February 2016) attempted to showcase the state as a prime destination for domestic and international tourists. The fair was organized by the State Tourism Department and North Bengal Development Department in association with Eastern Himalaya Travel and Tour Operators' Association. NATTA Central Committee was represented by Joint Treasurer, Mrs. Sabita Bhattarai K.C and Executive Member Mr. Varun Mehta at the event. A total of 92 travel agents from Nepal including NATTA Western Regional Association (Pokhara), NATTA Eastern Regional Association (Kakadvitta), Bhutan and Bangladesh were participating in the event. NATTA was one of the Associate Partners of the event.
A meeting of NATTA Delegation was held with President of Bankers Association of Nepal, Mr. Upendra Poudel on 23rd February 2016 at his office, in NMB Bank, Babarmahal. On behalf of NATTA, Mr. Binay Basnet, Chairperson of NATTA IATA and Aviation Committee had put up several issues faced by NATTA IATA Accredited members in the course of settling their IATA weekly remittances. Mr. C.N Pandey, 1st V.P and Mr. Chitra Bahadur Gurung, Treasurer also added a few more issues for prompt solution. In response, President Poudel has assured that he would positively look into the problems and will coordinate with concerned banks to find an amicable solution as well as he will all his best possible to ease IATA remittance procedure in the days to come.
Home-stay Association of Nepal (HOSAN) organized its three-day long national convention in Amaltari of the Nawalparasi district. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel inaugurated the First HOSAN National Convention. The national meet was organized on February 19, 20 and 21 with an objective to further systematize the home-stay services as more domestic and foreign tourists have been attracted towards this business. The 9th Convention and 21st AGM of NATTA Western Regional Association was held on 9th February 2016 at Hotel Barahi, Pokhara, Lakeside. The program kicked off with the grand inaugural ceremony. Chief Guest for the program was the Military attaché from Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the name NATTA itself has been quiet meaningful to promote Nepalese Tourism as NATTA enshrines both Nature and Adventure. Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya, President of NATTA, was invited by UFTAA President Mr. Sunil Kumar to join UFTAA Board Meeting which was held in New Delhi on 29-30 January, 2016. Addressing the meeting President Acharya apprised the dignitaries about Nepal’s current status of tourism and the promotional plans. He also expressed NATTA’s critical opinions regarding the inconsistency of functioning of APJC in Nepal . He suggested that such meetings of the regional NTA’s should be held every two months in rotation so that the stakeholders in neighborhood can have a fair knowledge of the happenings in each other’s country. President Mr. Madhu Sudan Acharya on an invitation participated in a meeting convened by Legislative Parliament on 26th January 2016 to discuss and provide the input to the government in regard to the existing rules regarding trekking activities in the restricted areas including Climbing Royalty and Trekking Permit Fee. The meeting couldn’t draw any conclusive decision as the real stakeholders were not invited in the meeting. A separate committee was suggested to look into the issue and report the government. The committee included: department of immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs, Trekking Agencies Associaton of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) and Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).
