A five-member delegation of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) comprising of Mr. D.B Limbu, Ms. Mihika Dhakhwa, Prof. Dr. Hari Sarmah, all from NATTA Central Region including Mr. Pom Narayan Shrestha, President of NATTA Western Regional Association (Pokhara) and Mr. Bijay Gurung from NATTA Pokhara called on the office of the Ambassador of South Korea, RaviBhawan on 7th January 2015. The prime mission of the visit was to exchange goodwill and inform HE about the successful participation of NATTASecretary at a training program held recently in Seoul.President of NATTA Pokhara requested HE to visit Pokhara and encourage the travel trade entrepreneurs by kindlyinaugurating the upcoming 20th AGM of the Association in Pokhara on 31st January 2015. HE accepted the invitation and thanked the NATTA fraternity for the same.
NATTA held talks with Director General Mr. Chudamani Sharma and Director of the Department Mr. Gopal Ghimire in regard to VAT issues on transport on 7th Jan 2015 at IRD Office, Lazimpat. It has been agreed that NATTA and NATO will cooperate IRD in making the VAT more effective in the days to come. The major issue discussed was waiving ofoutstanding VAT amount for the F/Y 2069-70 that have not been billed. The meeting also agreed to organize anOrientation Program on VAT latest by 3rd Feb as a joint venture of NATTA, NATO and IRD. The Eighth Meeting of the Nepal-Tibet (China) JointCommittee for Tourism Promotion was held in Lhasa from 23-27th December, 2014. Mr. Binay Basnet, Executive Member of NATTA was nominated to participate in the above meeting. Director General of Tourism Department, Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation Mr.Tulashi Prasad Gautam and Nepalese Consul-General Mr. Hari Prasad Bashyal had jointly led the sixteen NepaleseDelegates representing government and non-governmentsector in the meeting. From the Tibet (China) side, Mr. Zeng Wanming, the Vice-Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region (China) led the 21 member Chinese delegates. Nepal Tourism Board, celebrating its 16th Anniversary held a presentation on the burning issue ofcommercialization of mountaineering by Mr. David Durkan, the author of “Penguins on Everest” dated on 24th December, at Auditorium Hall, NTB. Mr. Durkan spoke on how commercialization has turned climbing Everest into a product to be bought and sold like any other commodity and not an adventure activity anymore. Also raising the issue, whether is mountaineering a challenge for the intrepid explorer or just a fun activity for moneyed pleasure seekers, the followed program gave a tribute to climbers who recently died in an avalanche on Everest. President Mr. D.B Limbu and 1st Vice President Mr. Shambhu Raj Pathak., represented NATTA in the program.
President Mr. D.B. Limbu, also the Coordinator of Joint Tourism Co-ordination Committee, acongregation of about fifty tourism relatedassociations in Kathmandu, called a joint meeting of the Committee on Wednesday, 24th December at NATTA Secretariat and discussed on the agenda of the two contradictory provisions in Tourism Act and in Transport Act in regard to the definition of 'tourism'. The meeting also focused on nominations of new members in the Nepal Tourism Board, & discussed about the possibility of Tourist BusTerminal in Kathmandu. Presidents of various associations participated and delivered on the issues. It was also agreed that all associations under JTCC will identify their problems and issues in their respective associations and will submit the same to the Coordinator as JTCC isplanning to submit a memorandum of JTCC Grievances in the near future.

Nepal Airlines is operating twice daily flights except on Saturday to Pokhara by Y12 E aircraft with effect from 18December 2014, one flight in the morning and one in the afternoon. NA has also floated special promotional fares for some time keeping in mind the maximum benefit to agents as far as possible. More destinations will be added in the near future to different places like Janakpur, Simara, Tumlingtar, Dang and so on. NA has been operating daily flights to Biratnagar, thrice weekly flights to Nepalgunj and twice daily flights to Bhairahawa, Bhadrapur and Dhangadhi by MA 60 aircraft and have assured the improvement in punctuality and reliability of the flights to thesedestinations subject to the weather condition. A meeting was held with the marketing department of Nepal Tourism Board on 4th December 2014, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss on further possibilities of joint coordination for the participation on the international Travel trade fairs. NATTA has proposed NTB to jointly work on coordination of at least one travel trade fair in India & China to start off with. NATTA has been coordinating FITUR which is held in Madrid, Spain since past several years. Moreover, NATTA hasrequested Nepal Tourism Board to contribute 25% extra on the stalldecoration/design so that our Nepal stand will be of better standard and up to the international mark.
