As Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) Nepal, had sent a letter asking for the transparency of billing of Air Ticketing without having any other additional charges than the actual Airfare by the travel agents/GSA. This created the trouble among the ticketing agents for their daily business. On this matter, a discussion was held with NATTA Past President Council and NATTA Members as this might be quiet challenging to the travel agents in the tourism industry. The meeting discussed on the present scenario of commission/discount given by airlines. According to the decision of the joint meeting, the issue has been addressed to Board of Airlines Representatives of Nepal (BARN) requesting to adjust the YQ Tax in the ticket fare and providing a total of 9% commission to selling ticketing agents. A copy of the letter has been sent to Secretary of MoCTCA and several table talks has been done with the concerned departments of the industry.
The issue had been addressed in the agenda of NATTA 31st Board Meeting. The Board Meeting decided to form the Committee to solve this issue in Coordination of Secretary General Mr. Ramesh Thapa with the members, Jt. Treasurer Mr. Surendra Bhattarai, Exe. Members Mr. Raju Dhakal and Mr. Ramesh Paudel. Further some NATTA Members were also nominated in the committee.
Frequent follow-ups have been done by NATTA in trying to bring stability in the industry after the MoCTCA has issued the letter on removing the Service Fee on tickets.
