The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security organized National Labour and Employment Conference on June 30-July 1, 2019 (15-16 Asad, 2076) aiming to provide a relevant platform for a dialogue where stakeholders and technical experts came together to share knowledge and discuss across key labour market themes. Hon’ble Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the two-day conference which was organized with a view of creating job opportunities in the country and engaging youths in socio-economic development.
Deliberations was made on the policy, laws and mechanism to regulate and promote labour and employment sector. Experts presented the working papers on the review of policy of labour and employment, labour migration and integration of foreign employment returnees. There was discussion as well on Nepali labour market, work culture and labour dignity, entrepreneurship of Nepali youths, employment and information technology and national economy and development of skills for employment.
In a side-line event, representatives from government agencies, private sector, various trade unions, labour and employment sector, development partners and INGOs exhibited a showcase aiming to identify skills gaps for job placement, apprenticeship and on the job training to promote more and better jobs in Nepal. NATTA as well exhibited in the program representing the tourism industry.
