Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) and NTB participated in the most coveted fair in Europe, FITUR in Madrid, Spain. Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and along with twenty private travel trade companies from Nepal participated in the tourism fair from 18 to 22 January 2023.
Her Excellency Ambassador of Nepal to Spain Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal inaugurated the Nepal pavilion and shared the tourism promotional activities being organized by the Embassy.
All the Officials had interactions with the visitors at the Nepal stall and disseminated information on Nepal’s tourism products and activities. Similarly, travel trade companies from Nepal had business-to-business interactions with the operators (buyers) at the fair. Thousands of enthusiastic visitors at the Nepal stall during the 5-days fair raised their concerns on trekking, sightseeing, connectivity, and safety issues.
On the evening of 22 January, the Nepal Tourism Board and the Embassy of Nepal in Madrid jointly organized a sideline Nepal promotion event ‘Connecting Tourism’ in Hotel Western Palace, Madrid. In the program, Her Excellency Ambassador of Nepal to Spain Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal welcomed the tour operators, legendary summiteers and media people from Madrid. She encouraged the travel professionals to send tourists to Nepal and assured them for every possible assistance from Nepal Embassy. President of NATTA Mr. Ramesh Thapa appealed to the local operators to include Nepal in travel packages. Senior Director of NTB Ms. Nandini Lahe Thapa had a presentation on attractions, activities and strengths of tourism in Nepal. There was a networking meeting among the operators from Nepal and buyers from Spain as well at the event.
The International Tourism Fair (FITUR) reported that registration had a follow-up growth compared to last year, with more than 222,000 attendees, 136,000 professionals, 68% more, and 86,000 visitors. In terms of participation, the fair has brought together 8,500 companies, 131 countries, 755 holders, along 8 pavilions of the fairgrounds, which have represented an area of 66,900 m2 net of the exhibition, equaling the occupation of 2020, Ifema Madrid reported in a statement.
