NATTA organized a Press-Meet on last 8th April ’12 at NATTA Secretariat to inform the press about NATTA’S China Sales Mission -2012(from 12th -22nd April) to four major Cities, viz., Kunming,Shanghai,Beijing & Xi’an. The press was also informed about NATTA’s upcoming Seminar ‘Problems OF Heritage Conservation & Measures to solve them’. Two press matters were released on the occasion.
With a view to harnessing the vast potential of promoting tourism between Nepal and North India, NATTA organized a joint meeting with the President of North India Management Association (NIMA) Dr. Gulshan Sharma and his high-level delegation comprising of NIMA Secretary General J.N. Vohra, Prof. Narinder Kumar and Dr. Rajdeep Singh currently on move in Kathmandu at NATTA Secretariat on Thursday, the 04th Apr '12. Mr. Jerome Edou and officials from Base Camp Trekking and Expeditions visited NATTA Secretariat on 28th Feb'12 with a project to launch a campaign to declare Nepal's Trekking Areas and National Parks a Plastic Bag and Bottle Free Zone and requested for NATTA's support to translate this campaign into a reality and set the benchmark for responsible eco-tourism in the world.NATTA President Mr. Pavitra Kumar Karki welcomed the idea and appreciated the initiation. MOTCA on the request of NATTA has sent a letter to Tourism Industry Division on 23rd March '12 to do the needful to provide permission to ply tourist buses in the Pokhara-Lumbini-Pokhara route. NATTA had approached MOTCA for this in view of Visit Year-2012.
A Joint meeting of NATTA Heritage and Environment Committee and Media and Publicity Committee was held at NATTA Secretariat last Friday, the 23rd of March to discuss on the module of the proposed Half-day Seminar on "Problems of Heritage Conservation and suggested Measures to solve them."The date for the event is yet to be finalised. More than 150 Participants will reflect on the contents of a working paper on the given topic and will prepare a list of recommendations to be sent to the concerned authorities for implementation
NATTA Secretary General, Mr. Achyut Guragain and NATTA Heritage Committee Co-coordinator Mr. Shyam Madan K.C called on the Officials at Kathmandu Metropolis on 14th March in the Morning and discussed about NATTA's upcoming Half-day Seminar on "Problems of Heritage Conservations and Measures to solve them." Secretary General Mr. Guragain apprised the Metropolis regarding the problem of Tourist Bus Park in the city and also sought their co-operation to find a new area which could be developed as Tourist Bus Park. He also suggested metropolis officials that NATTA could assist them in selling out the heritage site entry tickets to NATTA Tour operators throughout Secretariat. The modus operandi is yet to be finalized.
NATTA President Mr. Pravitra Kumar Karki and other tourism sector entrepreneurs called on Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Lokendra Bista at the Ministry recently.During the meeting, entrepreneurs expressed their concern over the delaying in the fulfillment of the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). They said that due to this vacancy NTB would be badly affected. In response, Minister Bista assured that the vacancy at NTB would be fulfilled at the earliest. The other participants were representatives from Hotel Association Nepal, Trekking Agencies of Association of Nepal (TAAN), and Nepal Association of Rafting Agents (NARA), CEO NATTA Prof. Dr. Hari Sarmah had also accompanied the delegation.
Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Western Regional Association Pokhara held its 17th AGM and 7th Convention election for the year 2012-2014 for the executive committee. Mr. Kedar Nath Sharma has been elected unanimously for the post of President of NATTA Regional Association Pokhara. Mr. Santosh Pokharel, Mr. Pomnarayan Shrestha and Dilli Prasad Gautam have been elected as new first vice president, second vice president and general secretary respectively of the committee. A six day Basic Fare Construction and Ticketing Training that Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has been providing in conjunction Board of Airlines Representatives in Nepal (BARN), started at the Royal Singhi Hotel in the capital on Monday. Mr. B.K Singh, ex official of Nepal Airlines Corporation, is imparting the 23 participants from the member travel companies of the NATTA on the ticketing. The training is expected to produce effective human resource for the travel industry.
International Air Transport Association (IATA) Officials Mr. Sunil Chopra and Mr. Anil Srivastav called on Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Secretariat and discussed on BSP payment with NATTA officials and members of Agency Program Joint Council (APJC) on November 3 at NATTA Secretariat. The meeting agreed to hold further talks to settle down the issue of new provision BSP. IATA urged a three members name for the same. Likewise, following the meet with IATA officials, NATTA organized another meeting with its member for the same.
